Best RV Parks in North Carolina

Stone Mountain State Park

Located near the northern border of North Carolina, Stone Mountain State Park is about an hour west of Winston-Salem. The park is over 14,000 acres of forest, waterfalls, beautiful views, horseback riding, fishing, rock climbing, and more. In the campground of the park, there are 67 sites with electrical and water hook-ups. The sites also have a fire ring, picnic table, and bathhouses and dump stations are near the sites. When you’re there, make sure to hike to Stone Mountain itself and sit on a bench to admire the view. And if you can, walk to the top and take in the tree top views — perfect for the fall season.

Deep Creek Tube Center and Campground

Nestled in amid the Nantahala National Forest, Deep Creek Tube Center and Campground is the perfect place to spend a weekend and cool off in the water of Fontana Lake. At the campsite, there are 16 RV sites, each with power and full hook-ups. There are also pull-through sites with full hook-ups and cable. When you’re there, be sure to pan for gems in Bryson City with the family, go tubing on the lake, check out Indian Creek Falls, and the variety of trails throughout the park. This RV park is one of the best for family activities.

New Bern KOA

North of Croatan National Forest, the New Bern KOA is located on the east side of the Neuse River. If you’re looking for a quiet vacation getaway, this is a great pick. Enjoy an afternoon of fishing on the water, eat lunch in a pavilion, or go mini-golfing with the kids. Or if you want to visit New Bern, you can head into the historic town and visit Tryon Palace Historic Sites and Gardens, the former state capitol. The RV sites include cable TV, firewood, 50/30 amps, grills, views of the river, and they allow pets! If you want to visit nature, but still have the option to be around people, this RV park is a must.

Campfire Lodgings: Asheville

Located just 20 minutes north of beautiful Asheville, Campfire Lodgings offers you some of the best views of North Carolina and one of the best RV parks. The campsite offers premium and deluxe RV sites. Both offer a quiet space to rest and relax; however, premium sites are located on concrete slabs and have incredible views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and deluxe sites are on gravel pads. The campsite itself offers picnic tables, bathrooms, Wi-Fi access, and fire rings. Within half an hour to an hour of the campsite is Pisgah National Forest and many other small mountain towns with hiking trails, fishing, hunting, and more.

Camp Hatteras

In the heart of the Outer Banks, Camp Hatteras is a family-owned campsite since 1991. There are over 400 sites, concrete pads, cable TV, Wi-Fi, pools, water sport rentals, dog parks, clubhouse with kitchen, game rooms, and so much more. If you want to stay at the RV site, there is plenty to do, or you can explore the banks, shop, eat, or swim in the ocean. There’s no shortage of things to do when you stay at Camp Hatteras.

These are some of the best RV parks in North Carolina, but they are far from the only ones. There are dozens of other parks that the whole family would love to stay at. The hard part about traveling over the summer, however, is having to go home and put away the RV. Even though there is plenty of time before this happens, it’s best to start thinking about it now.
